Malcolm retired from the post of Clerk of Work on Thursday 1st April 2021 after 19 years of dedicated service to Halifax Estates. He came to Garrowby in January 2002 as Building Foreman and in April 2009 was promoted to Clerk of Works to lead the Building and Joinery teams as well as to co-ordinate the numerous contractors that operate on the Estate.

The ability to juggle priorities and cope with the pressures of maintaining and improving a large property portfolio seemed to come naturally to Malcolm and he had the admirable ability to deal with all the challenges that faced him on a daily basis with calmness and good humour.

Malcolm has been succeeded in the Clerk of Works role by Tom Atkinson, who has also been promoted from Building Foreman.

Fortunately Malcolm will continue to live on Garrowby Estate in retirement and will be picking up his tools again to help out the Building Department on a part time basis over the next few years.

We wish Malcolm and his partner Jayne, best wishes for a long and enjoyable retirement.
